Position Information

The Cultural Affairs Division, within the Arlington Economic Development ( AED) Department seeks a part-time, temporary Theater Technician to provide sound, lighting, and visual arts facility operations. This role will perform a variety of duties to ensure the smooth operation of weekly events within Arlington County and a range of visual and performing arts programs, including but not limited to music, dance, theater, and visual arts.

Specific duties:
  • Operating lighting, sound, and video equipment;
  • Arranging staging, lighting, sound, video for events;
  • Monitoring facilities for theater and/or Scenic Studio;
  • Setting up and breaking down events and performances;
  • Perform light carpentry and scenic artistry;
  • Ensuring the safety of patrons; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

  • High School Diploma/GED; and
  • One (1) year of experience in administrative support related to technical theater practices.

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following;

  • Running sound, lights, or in video production:
  • Theater Carpentry;
  • Scenic Artistry; and
  • Working directly with the public.

Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

Employee must have the ability to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs.
