Position Information
This is an announcement for multiple permanent part-time and temporary Lifeguard positions at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking to hire multiple positions for the new facility opened in August, 2021.

Permanent part-time and temporary Lifeguards at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center are responsible for working shifts as on-duty lifeguards. These positions will serve as the primary guards in the facility and will monitor two bodies of water, including a 50-meter pool and a leisure pool with a water slide and other play features. Lifeguards will work on deck or in lifeguard chairs and serve as the primary protection against water related injuries. Lifeguards may be scheduled to work morning, afternoon, evening or weekend shifts.

About Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center

The Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center has something for everyone. For those looking to fuel their competitive side the new facility includes a 50-meter pool with 1-meter, 3-meter, and 5-meter diving, a whirlpool, and two bulkheads to create more opportunities in the pool. The 50-meter pool is FINA compliant for long and short course competitive swimming, water polo, and synchronized swimming. On the other side of the facility, the fun never stops in the family pool. This pool includes a splash pad for tots, a water slide, 4-25-yard lap lanes areas for swim classes and lessons, in-water volleyball & basketball, and a lazy river.

On dry land, the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center includes an 8,000-sf. fitness center with a variety of cardio and fitness equipment. There is a fitness studio, three community rooms, and two wet-classrooms for fitness classes, parties, and gatherings. Outdoors this new development includes 10.5 acres of new parkland for casual use, the extension of the esplanade, and outdoor space for festivals and special events. Selection Criteria
Minimum:

  • Some experience performing lifeguard duties; and
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Training Certification or equivalent.

Desirable: Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following valid certifications:

  • Current CPR/AED Certification;
  • Lifeguarding for the Professional Rescuer Certification; and/or
  • American Red Cross Water Attraction Credential for Lifeguards.

Special Requirements
A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment, which may include the following: criminal record, driving record, education, reference check, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

Candidates hired will be required to obtain and maintain the following certification(s) during employment:

  • CPR//AED Certification
  • Lifeguarding for the Professional Rescuer
  • American Red Cross Water Attraction Credential for Lifeguards
