The Development Coordinator, Major Gifts, reports to a Director of Development and supports one or more Centers of Excellence. The Coordinator independently assists development officers in coordinating the development of gift proposals, special event planning, projects, and donor correspondence. H/she is responsible for assisting in special initiatives in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of high level major gift prospects and donors. H/she conducts subject matter research in support of hospital-based initiatives for donor proposals and other projects. Provides writing and editing assistance on major gift proposals, mailings and correspondence. H/she will have opportunity to participate with in-person visits with donors and prospects under the direction of management. Will be involved in direct solicitation and have fundraising goal. May provide support to the senior leadership of the Foundation on special projects as necessary. Will communicate effectively with a diverse range of high level professionals including physicians, scientists, administrators, development officers and donors. Develop technical acumen to support data tracking, entry and reports
from Raiser 's Edge to manage fundraising success.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
1 year Related experience (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in MS Office programs.
Strong graphic design experience. Must have regularly managed in-person donor/volunteer communications.
Sound knowledge of development best practices including gift acceptance, donor/prospect management, and data recording.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, think creatively , and manage projects effectively; exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail; strong persuasive writing and editing skills.
Strong research skills.
Willingness to work collaboratively with a team to produce finished products.
Ability to work effectively under time constraints.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of professionals including physicians, scientists, administrators, development officers and major gift donors and prospects.
Basic knowledge of budget management for special projects and events.
Technical skills related to web page development and e-newsletter creation and management, preferred.

Functional Accountabilities
Fundraising Support
  • Participate in and support Major Gifts sponsored initiatives; assist in special initiatives in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of high level major gift prospects and donors.
  • Participate with in-person visits with donors and prospects under the direction of management; may be involved in direct solicitation and have fundraising goal.
  • Assist to develop gift proposals and gift agreements.
  • Assist to plan special events including venue selection, invitations, RSVP's, menu selection, program highlights, and fundraising initiatives and budget.
  • Host tours to prospective donors and prospects to demonstrate the need for fundraising.
  • Manage post event donor stewardship and data clean-up.
Planning and Organizing
  • Provide project management support for center activities to ensure deadlines are met, input is gathered from appropriate staff, and approvals are obtained.
  • Provide project management for the production of Major Gifts materials including proposals, stewardship reports, business plans, briefings, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.
  • Manage committee meetings and faculty/staff meetings.
  • Assist to enter and track donor information in Raiser's Edge to inform strategies and tactics.
Communication
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse range of high level professionals including physicians, scientists, administrators, development officers and donors/prospects.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteer and department teams.
  • Provide high-quality writing and editing assistance on major gift proposals, reports and correspondence.
  • Provide audio/visual support in creating high-quality Power Point presentations and other materials for Major Gifts activities, including the creation of videos to highlight donor impact.
Research
  • Conduct independent subject matter research in support of hospital-based initiatives for donor proposals and other projects.
