The budget manager will manage and coordinate the annual operating and capital budget process and provide oversight and management of the operating and capital budgets throughout the year. Budget manager will participate in other special projects for Finance providing project management and analytical expertise to support senior leadership. Acts as an internal advisor to help identify and implement new programs and processes directed at efficiency, and coordinates the development, monitoring and review of all applicable statistical and financial variance reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance or Healthcare Administration (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
4 years In hospital finance with demonstrated experience in budget and analytics (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Must possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, complete reliability and intuitive understanding of mathematical/statistical relationships and trends.
Must have proven organizational skills, ability to plan time effectively, balance multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
Must be proficient in the use of technology including advanced skill in Excel/spreadsheet analysis and other Office tools including Power Point and financial software including Axiom.
Must have strong communication skills both written and oral. Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must show maturity, good judgment, trustworthiness and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

Functional Accountabilities
Budget Management
  • Works with the Director, Budget and Financial Planning to manage the development of annual operating and capital budge. Provides guidance and support to hospital department leadership throughout the process.
  • Monitors the operating and capital budgets on an ongoing basis providing weekly, monthly and annual reports to leadership of volume statistics, operating revenue, operating expenses and capital expenditures.
  • Interact with all levels of hospital management to provide clarification and research issues regarding budget variances. Prepares monthly variance reports with justifications and/or mitigations plans.
  • Assists in the month end close process.
  • Participates in the long term financial planning process as needed.
Technology Management
  • Maintains Axiom financial software, coordinating upgrades, updating data, participates in the training of end users.
  • Designs reports in Axiom to meet the needs of leadership working closely with accounting and other areas.
Leadership
  • Manages financial analysts as assigned, provides performance management, coaching and completed annual review.
  • Maintain a consistent workflow, meet project deadlines
  • Lead and participate in various special projects for Finance and Operations providing analytical and project management support.
  • Other duties as assigned
