Business Unit Description

Integrated Communications and Marketing is a multimedia, service-focused operation that leads in shaping the impression of AARP by providing communications planning, marketing, support and execution for AARP's strategic business units.
Summary

This position plays a critical role in the creation of digital products and experiences for AARP's audience. The role will manage a portfolio of work that supports AARP's Social Impact initiatives, and serve as a liaison between the AARP digital team and multiple AARP lines of business. The role will provide strategic and operational support to AARP business teams to ensure that our digital products and experiences deliver consumer value and drive measurable outcomes in support of AARP's enterprise objectives. This position reports into the Digital Services team.
Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and collaborate with stakeholders to understand business and end-user objectives; help define solutions and identify success metrics; develop project plans and timelines; provide project management support to deliver new products and experiences; manage business stakeholder communications.
  • Manage a portfolio of digital initiatives, including ownership of projects plans and roadmaps. Create and manage program and project-related documentation, and identify resources required to deliver on project plans.
  • Manage overall project execution to deliver new products and experiences that are on-time, achieve quality assurance requirements, and meet DSM and business objectives; while supporting and adopting an 'Agile mindset' to leverage a "test & learn" iterative approach that produces fast learnings and optimal outcomes across the portfolio.
  • Identify impacts and interdependencies between stakeholders and internal solutions teams, and recommend issue resolution options. Assess and articulate the pros, cons and risks of various solution/deliverable approaches. Employ a diplomatic approach to influence solution and business teams through analysis, rationale and data.
  • Lead project planning with a solution-oriented mindset that effectively involves the appropriate team members. Oversee and maintains overarching project plans that reflect milestones, schedules, key dates, progress against targets, and risks.
  • Support the big picture and anticipate bottlenecks, make timely and appropriate escalations to management, recommend decisions/tradeoffs to management, and work effectively as required in ambiguous situations.
  • Continuously refine and adapt approach in response to feedback, research and insights.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of relevant work experience including digital program, project or product management and client management experience for a large, consumer facing organization.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex projects concurrently. PMI or equivalent is desired but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build, maintain and nurture strong, productive working relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to document a range of outputs such as business requirements, status reports and presentations in a variety of formats (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively multi-task required.
  • Experience with established, large-scale content management systems (e.g., AEM).
  • Familiarity with digital user identity management (login & registration) and Adobe Analytics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with project and/or task management systems (such as Confluence, Basecamp, Jira) a plus.
  • Ability to bring a strategic mindset to the development of consumer experiences.
