Responsibilities

This position is located at the Alcohol & Tobacco Trade Bureau, Office of Assistant Administrator, Management/CFO, Acquisition and Facilities Management Division. As a Security Specialist, you will be responsible for installation, repair, and maintenance of security equipment and the security network.

As a Security Specialist, you will:

- Develop plans for implementation/upgrades for all enterprise physical security systems, hardware, and other security equipment throughout the bureau to include, video surveillance, intrusion detection, card readers, and electronic locksets.
- Oversee and perform the planning, design, installation, testing, deployment, maintenance, and upgrading of new or specialized hardware, operating systems, and applications software supporting all physical security systems which is accomplished through physically installing the systems and hardware personally or through the use of contractors.
- Coordinate and monitor 24-hour technical support for all physical security systems, services, and hardware.
- Evaluate new and different types of security systems and devices in order to ensure the organization is protecting its employees and assets in the best and most cost-effective method available while having the least interference possible with the organization mission.
- Review, analyze, coordinate, plan, and prepare budget projections for proposed security systems or system upgrades.

  • Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position is defined as: Providing support in the development, testing, installation, and implementation of the physical security program, security systems and security network administration and providing network navigation and support.
    Examples of such experience may include:
    - Providing support in the development, testing, and implementation of security systems and network administration and experience providing network navigation and support; OR
    - Conducting assessments to identify potential risks to security network environment; OR
    - Assisting with the design and implementation of IT networking systems in a Security environment; OR
    - Installation and maintenance of security network and equipment.


    In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.

    Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
