About the position:
This is a Flexible (part-time) position assigned at Bethel Park in Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA (Langley AFB). The purpose of this position is to perform manual labor tasks involving the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc, moves heavy boxes, cartons, or luggage by hand, handtruck, or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars, and cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons where directed. Required to drive vehicles between Outdoor Recreation facilities.
  • Using a shovel, digs ditches and trenches where a pick is not needed to loosen the dirt, and where grading and sloping is not required; fills holes ,with dirt and levels bumps and low places, using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
  • Runs hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawnmowers, ,when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example, on steep grades); clears small trees and bushes, using handsaw, hatchet, or clipper. Clears leaves using a rake.
  • Moves and arranges furniture as directed; shovels snow from sidewalks; washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or power buffer. Assists with docking boats, maintenance and end of season preparation.
  • As directed, cleans and restocks restrooms. Removes trash and debris from around buildings, park grounds, Paint Ball and FAMCAMP. Inspects pavilions for needed repairs. Paints and repairs fences and park structures. Cleans, repairs and/or replaces grilles on park grounds.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.


Qualifications

No previous experience or training is required. Must be able to use, control, and clean common hand tools, and simple power equipment. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 60lbs, and be able to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions. Must have a current state drivers' license. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing/or drug use."
