Family Nurse Practitioner Program Coordinator

The George Mason University, School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, term faculty position at the academic rank of Assistant Professor. About the College of Health and Human Services:

The School of Nursing is situated in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), along with the departments of Global and Community Health, Health Administration and Policy, Nutrition and Food Studies and Social Work, and is home to more than 1,900 undergraduate and 950 graduate students and 140 faculty and staff. About the School of Nursing:

Our faculty aspires to contribute to the health of all populations through innovative and impactful education, research, practice, and service. The School currently enrolls over 700 students, with baccalaureate and Master's programs (in-seat and on-line) and both a Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) program that includes advanced practice nursing concentrations in family practice, psychiatric mental health, and adult gerontology, as well as administration and a PhD in Nursing program. Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the online MSN FNP program to include day-to-day program operations such as identifying teaching faculty, assisting with student advising and clinical placement and overseeing student admission and progression to ensure program and student success (50%);
  • Teaching across the SON curriculum consistent with background/expertise;
  • Engaging with clinical and community-based partners;
  • Pursuing professional service that advances the School's mission;
  • Participating in faculty governance.


Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Nursing (DNP or PhD) or health-related field;
  • An unencumbered Virginia Registered Nurse and nurse practitioner license, or eligibility to obtain upon employment;
  • Expertise in effectively teaching in higher education;
  • Experience with distance learning in an online environment;
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Commitment to supporting a culture of inclusion and diversity;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years nursing experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two-years of experience as a family nurse practitioner;
  • Academic administrative experience;
  • Familiarity with nursing accreditation standards for MSN and advanced practice nursing concentrations.
