The Housing Center at the American Enterprise Institute ( www.aei.org/housing/ ) conducts cutting-edge research and publishes an unprecedented set of risk metrics to improve the operation of housing markets, mortgage lending practices, and housing policy. We are seeking a (senior) research analyst to work directly with the center's director and the center's director of research on the full range of the center's initiatives.

Final title and salary are commensurate with experience. Please outline in your cover letter which title you feel your qualifications most accurately represent.

As a (senior) research analyst, the primary responsibilities include:
  • Draft policy papers, op-eds, and create presentations with charts and graphs
  • Analyzing data using Excel
  • Conducting analysis to create new housing market indicators and other insights
  • Participating in the Center's longer-term research projects
  • Assisting the director with expanding the Center's outreach to its audiences

The ideal research analyst will possess:
  • Strong communications and organizational skills (essential)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment (essential)
  • Knowledge of Excel (essential)
  • Knowledge of QGIS, ArcGIS, or Tableau (desirable)

Desired level of experience:

A Research Analyst will have a B.A with at least 2 years prior professional experience, preferably in the field, or an M.A. in economics, finance, real estate, or public policy with or without prior experience. A Senior Research Analyst will meet the qualifications for that position with an additional 1-2 years of experience in the field.
