An Assistant Director of Critical Care, CVICU is needed at one of the DMV's busiest heart hospitals. The 450-bed Medical Center is recognized nationally for the quality of care and is in the midst of a large capital improvement project, including building a brand-new hospital. The Assistant Director of Critical Care, CVICU will direct the clinical, administrative services, activities, and patient delivery related to nursing care provision at this hospital's 20-bed CTICU unit. The position will have oversight of over 45 FTEs.This hospital is a top performer on the East Coast for Cardiac Surgery and Open Heart Surgery, and its surgeons are highly lauded. The organization also has earned National Accreditation as a Heart Attack/Stroke Center of Excellence. Other boasting points include:Recognition for a 95% rate of cardiac patients having blockages opened within 90 minutes or arrival, exceeding state and national averages.Recognition as "high performing" for treatment of heart failure and COPDThe Assistant Director of Critical Care, CVICU will assume the responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, and evaluating performance in assigned areas. They will play a large role in the clinical education of staff to ensure competencies are maintained and staff recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation. This position will report to a highly supportive and experienced Divisional Nurse Director of Critical Care and work with a cohort of Critical Care ICU Nurse Managers.This role's ideal candidate has leadership and or clinical experience with post-operative open-heart surgery patients, having worked in a CTICU, CSICU, or CVICU. Experience with units running ECMO is preferred, as is an MSN, but professional experience will be considered in place of an advanced degree.
