Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division, isA' seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (Level 4) to joinA' our team in Chantilly, VA. The Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.A' Our teamA' focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.A' Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.Position Overview:The Lead Systems Engineer will support a proprietary program in the Northern Virginia area. This program is dynamic and exciting, providing the opportunity to work within and learn a broad range of engineering disciplines. This unique role leads the engineering processes and the ability to communicate engineering requirements into a contractually sound technical baseline. We are seeking thoseA' passionate about systems engineering and hands on in their approach and possess organizational, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills. The individual must be able to work in a dynamicA' team environment and collaborate with several types of engineering disciplines to execute tasks on-quality and on-time. This position is a day shift position with on-call and occasional shift work, which includes off hours and weekends. The 24/7 rotating shift has a frequency of approximately one week per quarter).Position Responsibilities:Direct daily interface with customers and leaders, requiring evaluation ofA' customerA' needs.Work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Collaborate across multiple disciplines to achieve critical project milestones.Lead process engineering and continuous improvement activities.Analysis of risks, issues, and opportunities.Analysis of impacts to operational teams.Testing and validation to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.Certify and cross train in other program areas as required.Mentoring and daily task management for systems engineering team.Work Authorization:This position requires an active TS/SCI US Security Clearance with CI Poly. (A US Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.). This position is contingent on clearance verification and customer concurrence.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry5 years or more of experience in systems engineering.Willingness to work a rotating shift to include weekends and holidays.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):5 years or more of experience in aerospace engineering.Experience contributing to system engineering projects.Experience tracing requirements to incorporate into engineering design.Experience using web-based tools such as MS SharePoint.Experience with designing, developing, integrating and maintaining new software functionality.Experience with computer tools and other technologies using test plans and procedures to verify requirements.Experience across a breadth of disciplines including hardware, software, systems and test.Experience training, coaching and mentoring teammates.ExperienceA' with the aerospace industry and its products.Typical Education/Experience: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation:A' This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
