Primary Purpose of the Role: The Digital Signal Processing-Modem Engineer will develop, prototype, and implement various SATCOM waveforms on custom Inmarsat Government SDR based modems intended for use on Inmarsat's Ka-band and L-Band satellite networks. In this role, the candidate will work on Inmarsat Government internal signal processing developments as well as assist with implementation of partner company based solutions. The candidate will also assist with modem integration into new SATCOM terminals, and integrating our products into mobile platforms. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement custom waveforms targeting FPGA based SDRs Work with partner companies to develop and implement custom SATCOM waveforms Develop waveform specific technical requirements relating to in network modem operation Provide engineering expertise on various aspects of SATCOM terminal designs as they relate to waveform and modem integration and operation Develop and execute test plans for modem testing and for end-to-end system testing Manage projects towards on time and on budget delivery Essential Knowledge and Skills: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline. Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in SATCOM, aerospace, or telecommunications industry. Familiarity with SDR modem components (modulators, demodulators, digital filtering, sample decimation and interpolation, ADCs, DACs) Experience with MATLAB for communication system development Experience with FPGA SoC embedded processor development Experience with VHDL/Verilog Experience with Xilinx and/or Intel FPGA development tools Experience with DSSS waveforms Familiarity with RF related electronic parts and their specs Excellent communications skills with the ability to convey concepts verbally, in writing, and in power point style presentations Desirable knowledge and skills: Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline Experience with prototyping signal processing algorithms using FPGA based evaluation boards Familiarity with RFICs Experience with SATCOM terminal integration Familiarity with GNU radio Experience with SATCOM protocols/waveforms such as DVB-S2X and iDirect Velocity Experience with MATLAB Simulink, HDL Coder, Xilinx System Generator, Intel DSP Builder Experience with ModelSIM Experience leading projects and managing project stakeholders Experience with Linux Familiarity with IP networking Ability to achieve DOD Secret or Top-Secret clearance Location: Reston, VA, USA Travel: 10%
