Job Title: Clinical Adjunct Faculty - School of Nursing Reports to: Program Director, School of Nursing Late Update: 05.01.2019 Overview: The Adjunct Faculty Member is responsible for the success and proper delivery of the assigned Stratford University academic program courses. Specific responsibilities will include enhancing the University's standing as a provider of degree granting related curriculum and the development of new curriculum. The Adjunct Faculty Member is expected to work collaboratively with the Program Director/Department Chair, Campus President, admissions and academic support programs to facilitate student success and strengthen the reputation of the university by promoting excellence through curriculum development and instructional delivery. Active participation in departmental, campus and college committees is required. Essential Job Requirements: Provide engaging and motivating instruction through face to face, online and hybrid modes of delivery Teach online, face to face or in a hybrid format on the days and times assigned Participate in the development, evaluation and revision of the curriculum in collaboration with program directors Deliver the curriculum as developed by faculty and university deans Develop, update and maintain syllabi based upon the approved curriculum. Introduce hybrid components with threaded discussions through MOODLE Assist in the selection of course materials, library holdings, instructional equipment and educational resources Promote student success by engaging students in the learning process Utilize appropriate library resources and educational technology to enhance student learning Maintain class schedules and instructional integrity through adherence to lesson plans Ensure positive student outcomes through continuing assessment of student learning Conduct on-going assessment of student progress Accommodate students special needs and/or those who are undergoing unique circumstances and reach out to at risk students Facilitate student retention and placement through positive student interactions Reach out to students on a weekly basis to ensure that they are engaged and progressing academically Work as a member of the campus placement team to ensure that students are prepared for employment upon completion of academic program Include and integrate community resources into the curriculum and the classroom activities Remain current in specialized discipline through continuing education and professional development implemented in approved Annual Faculty Development Plan Participate in university wide activities for students, faculty and the community such as new student orientation, open houses, graduation exercises, faculty meetings and faculty education programs, including graduation ceremonies Maintain appropriate records related to students, attendance, grades, and other documents and insure delivery to the appropriate academic administrator in a timely manner Adhere to all administrative requirements for the position of adjunct faculty Strong commitment to high academic standards, and ability to provide leadership in maintaining and strengthening academic excellence and enhancing the University's standing Ability to articulate the role of the assigned curriculum ultimately serving the broader student body Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand information and ideas as presented verbally Communicate academic curriculum in an interesting and academically professional manner Will uphold high ethical standards when conducting business regarding all students, but especially with special student populations to include international students and students on SAP Support the University vision with respect to the assigned program Essential Criteria for Success: Truly enjoys interacting with students; Smiles on a regular basis Is intuitive and has a proactive approach to serving others Is poised, positive, outgoing and has a professional demeanor Demonstrates integrity, honesty, teamwork and genuine commitment to education Captivate students by utilizing your amazing communications skills. Qualifications: Earned master's degree in nursing Teaching experience in the content area assigned Hold an unencumbered RN license in Virginia or equivalent compact state licensure Maintain professional competence through such activities as nursing practice, continuing education programs, conferences, workshops, seminars, academic courses, research projects, and professional writing. Record of successful working relationships with internal and external constituencies, including faculty, students, alumni, and the larger professional management community Ability to work with external constituencies including business and industrial partners Proven experience as an instructor, teacher, professor, or faculty member within the Higher Education setting; or substantial education with industry experiences in area of study.
