Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary:
Westat has immediate openings for research assistants who will work closely with a multidisciplinary research team working on research projects about health care.  You would be expected to learn the operational protocol, data collection instruments, and training requirements for the study. The position is based in Rockville, Maryland.  New employees will work remotely until it becomes safe to return to our offices. 

Job Responsibilities:
•    Supporting members of an interdisciplinary team to collect data, including staff working remotely.
•    Support data collection activities including surveys, interviews, and site visits.
•    Developing project materials and documents.
•    Work with IT and project staff on system requirements.
•    Testing project systems.
•    Monitoring the productivity and quality of the data collection effort.
•    Assist in writing training materials, and data collection manuals for delivery in-person and remotely (both synchronously and asynchronously)
•    Providing administrative support as needed (updating presentations, coordinating, and note taking during meetings).
•    Other relevant job duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
•    A bachelor's degree, preferably in the social sciences, public health or a related field and 1 year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Master's degree preferred.

Qualified candidates must have strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe), and excellent written and oral communication skills. In addition, candidates must possess organizational and time management skills, the ability to exercise independent judgement, work independently and collaboratively in teams, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Attention to detail, aptitude for working with computer systems, strong interest in social research, working well in a fast-paced environment are essential.
A background in instructional design, questionnaire design, or experience working on longitudinal studies in a healthcare research environment is a plus. Occasional travel is required.
