Sr. Systems Engineers II (Hadoop

Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) seeks Sr. Systems Engineers II (Hadoop) for Chevy Chase, MD loc. May work remotely one day per week (or more as needed). Install, config, + maintain multiple Big Data Hadoop clusters. Optimize Hadoop svcs + deploy code into mult ecosystem using CI/CD method + automation. Responsible for design + arch sols to support Big Data platform + data ingestion pipeline dev. Provide BI and Data Science (DS) sols + support. Eval + define func reqs for BI + DS sols. Des + impl future roadmap for Big Data Platform. Work w/mngmnt to understand reqs + propose + dev best bus sols that enables effective decision making. Prep realistic proj impl plan. Coach + mentor proj team members. Lead prep of high qual proj deliverables + present them in easily understood manner. May work w/ HDFS, Hive, Impala Oozie, YARN, Sqoop, Zookeeper, Flume, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, scripting languages Python, ksh + bash. Little domestic travel may be involved. May require background checks and drug screen. 24x7 on-call rotation (project based, usually quarterly). Must have Bachelors in Comp Sci, rel Eng'g, or other rel field and 5 yrs rel IT exp w/Hadoop Platform.
