This is a Flexible position (part-time) located at the Eaglewood Golf Course on Joint Base Langley-Eustis VA - Langley location. This position may be subject to nights, days, weekends, Holidays, and on-call work.

Responsibilities

The incumbent performs significant labor involved with golf course grounds maintenance. Operates heavy, complex riding lawn mowers and similar types of specialized mowing equipment (e.g., multiple and independently-controlled cutting decks, single function components) and/or specially designed riding mowers that operate on slopes and require constant attention to working space and environment. Operates various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift, lower, adjust, engage, and disengage components or attached devices when working around: trees, greens, aprons, tees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, cart paths, sand bunkers, tee markers and cups on greens, trenches, slopes, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles.

Determines and selects the most appropriate type of equipment to accomplish each phase of the work in the most productive and cost-effective manner. Completes all aspects of special assignments involving several steps, phases or detailed procedures ( e.g., preparing ground, laying sod, planting flowers or shrubs and using simple drawings to establish a planting pattern and/or design). The laborer installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems; and may be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks or other equipment. Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of: large, complex riding mowers and similar types of specialized mowing equipment; skill in operating various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift, lower, adjust, engage and disengage components or attached devices; skill in controlling and maneuvering large, complex mowing equipment; ability to independently complete assignments involving several steps, phases or procedures; ability to follow written and/or oral instructions; ability to lift and move heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds (23 kilograms). Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Requires a valid driver's license. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National
Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing
for drug use.
