Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking Senior Systems Engineers (Levels 4 & 5) to support daily operations in the end to end technical management of a spacecraft mission. Engineers serve as a focal point for vehicle technical issues and functions, and coordination between site and factory engineering teams, and serve as a focal point for ensuring spacecraft safety of flight and coordination between contractor and government operations teams. Engineers provide on-site operational support and oversight, and implementation guidance for anomaly resolution and special test activities, as well as ensure long-term activities are planned and coordinated, and are ready for execution in a timely manner for spacecraft operations or the spacecraft factory provider. This position is located in Springfield, Virginia.The position includes regular on-call support and occasional support of off-hours activities. The position will involve: Applying an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.Position Responsibilities may include the following:Apply analytical methods to structured big data from multiple sources to discover objects, relationships, and behaviors.Leverage industry standard best practices for software data visualization and analysisPerform big data triage by monitoring large volume of data streams for anomalous changesProviding daily oversight of vehicle payload functionalityProvide daily oversight of spacecraft safety of flight to include environmental and man-made threats.Resolves cross-functional technical issuesReviewing operational logs; daily trend plots analysis; limit check reviewSupport of factory/customer requests for specific monitoringCoordinating implementation of Boeing Factory RecommendationsCoordination of technical issues with local and Factory expertsConducting review(s) and closure(s) of discrepancy reports, providing support to the daily Site- Factory interface meetingDeveloping scripts and tools with Perl, Python, Matlab, Excel/VBA, etc.Updating documentation and maintaining knowledge of vehicle contingency proceduresMaintaining current workarounds and memograms; maintaining/updating vehicle databasesSupporting memogram development, providing oversight to anomaly resolution from the system perspectiveSupport calibration activitiesReviewing and reporting trend analysisSupport deployments to contingency command and control facilitiesProvide weekly and monthly status of vehicle performanceProvide vehicle payload specific briefings and written reportsSupport of special systems engineering tests and transition related activitiesThis position requires an active US Security clearance for which the US government requires US citizenship. (A US Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.). A final US Top Secret / SCI Pre-Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistryWillingness to support a 24/7 occasional on-call rotation environmentA' A' A final US Top Secret / SCI clearance with an adjudicated CI Polygraph Pre-Start is required.7+ years' Experience in an engineering related rolePreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Ideal candidate will have the experience and skills in listed below:Degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering orA' Computer Science disciplines5+ yearsA cents € (TM) experience with aerospace engineering vehiclesAdjudicated CI PolygraphExperience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Python, Matlab, Java or LinuxExperience with planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring of requirements management processes.Predictive and/or complex technical analysis experience5+ years' experience working with space systems.Experience utilizing software systems.Typical Education & Experience:(Level 4) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.(Level 5) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
