We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer A cents € " Safety Critical Avionics Development (Level 5) to join our team and serve as the programA cents € (TM) s focal point for developing the technical solution to meet the customer/partnerA cents € (TM) s needs. This position is available in one of the following locations: St. Louis, Missouri, Long Beach, California, Seal Beach, California, Huntington Beach, California, El Segundo, California, Manassas, Virginia, Mesa, Arizona, Plano, Texas, Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Huntsville, Alabama, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, San Antonio, Texas, or Houston, Texas. The candidate will be required to support business needs and some travel will be required (estimated 15%) on an as needed basis. As part of the Boeing AvionX team you will serve a vital role in all phases of Safety Critical Avionics product development from cradle to grave.A' Our Avionics products support various aircraft and weapons systems spanning both Boeing Commercial and Boeing Defense. The primary product focus for this role will be small size, weight, and power computing solutions for various eVTOL vehicles, UAVs, and weapons. This role will be involved in all phases of Systems Engineering (market pursuits, concept of operations, shaping system requirements, A' shaping product requirements, functional analysis, product design and synthesis, integration and test, verification, and validation).A' The successful candidate will have strong communication and engineering background in development of Safety Critical Avionics. Position Responsibilities: Lead the requirements capture, requirement definition, requirements validation, functional analysis, and interface definition of target systems Lead development of systems which are satisfactory to regulatory authorities (FAA, EASA, Military Airworthiness, etc) Leads coordination and communication with the customer/partner, where possible, to define the operational concept Ensure the operational concept is considered in the requirements identification and allocation processes Assist Engineering Management in developing technical plans, budgets, resource requirements, and risk & opportunity assessments Develop products through a disciplined development process to meet or exceed customer/partner expectations during all phases of the product life cycle Participates in collaborative decision making with the product line team Ensure that Program objectives and technical expectations are met Participate in review and assessment of scope change requests Lead and support trade studies, early validation, requirements capture, verification, risk management, change management, design to cost, technical performance measures, and traceability This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final US Secret clearance Post-Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry 10+ years of experience in engineering Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience with ARP4754, ARP4761, MIL-HDBK-516C, and/or MIL-STD-882E Experience with DO-254, DO-178C, and/or DO-297 Experience with Specialty Systems Engineering such as Safety, Certification, Human Factors, Testability, Reliability and Maintainability Active security clearance 3+ years of experience with Safety Critical Avionics design and development 3+ years of experience working with customers/partners to define system level requirements 5+ years of experience supporting Avionics design and development Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
