The Lung Cancer Screening Nurse of the UM Upper Chesapeake Health Lung Cancer Screening Program is responsible for the coordination of the lung cancer screening program.# This individual will be responsible for patient navigation throughout the continuum of care for lung cancer screening services from screening through follow-up and referrals.# The Lung Cancer Screening Nurse will interact with physicians and their office staff, Advanced Radiology, as well as the several key hospital departments including surgery, rehabilitation therapy, nursing, case management, and any others involved in the care of the patient. This individual works with the Director of Oncology Clinical Programs in all aspects of the UM Upper Chesapeake Lung Cancer Screening Program. Education # Training: #Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and education in order to conduct patient triage, intake and assessment and participate in the case management process. Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design principles, instructional media, evaluation methods and generally accepted training and development practices. Certification in Oncology Nursing is required or must be obtained within 2 year of hire.# BCLS Certification is require Work Orientation # Experience:# Three to five years# experience in community nursing, health prevent and/or oncology services.# Preferred advanced skill and knowledge of screening program and oncology software programs (Aspen, Varian MO (Aria), regulations of National Data Registry Systems and case management experience is preferred.# The ability to implement sound educational programs is preferred.# Current Maryland Registered Nurse license with experience in Oncology Practice, community health and preventative health.# Skills # Abilities: Ability to: a) provide effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; b) maintain positive working relationships with team members including physicians; c) demonstrates ability and skills in independent decision-making, delegation,# coaching, planning, and leadership; d) demonstrates effective teaching and evaluation skills; e) practices effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making;# f) ability to adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the program; and g) ability to organize and prioritize effectively in a manner that facilitates completion of assignments and responsibilities within prescribed time frames.
