Principal Systems Safety Engineer
This position is contingent upon contract award anticipating 4th Quarter of 2021 Job Description: This candidate can work part time telecommuting and provide support from one of the following locations: Aurora Colorado, Richardson Texas, Dulles Virginia and Orlando Florida. Also must be able to travel a minimum of 20% a year to support customer or business program needs. Raytheon is looking for a skilled Principal Systems Safety Engineer to join our Specialty Engineering team. Specialty Engineering is part of Systems Engineering that complements the technical activities required to deliver a project. It deals with engineering that influence the systems design and architecture in terms of performance, safety, usability, reliability, maintainability, availability, supportability, testability, and cost consideration throughout the lifecycle of the product. Specialty Engineering applies methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teams. The Specialty Engineering function supports systems engineering activities including trade studies, use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. As such, all Specialty Engineers interface with the other Specialty disciplines and logistics engineering functions to ensure integration and continuity in the design and development process. The Specialty Team is looking for candidates with experience in this Specialty area: System Safety Engineer As a member of the Specialty Engineering Team, expect a dynamic and demanding environment that values discipline, adherence to processes, and adding value to our customers through our respective disciplines (Human Factors Engineering, System Safety, Reliability Engineering). Required Skills: -8 years of related work experience Experience in General for System Safety Engineering practices as derived from MIL-STD-882: Management (Task Series 100) Analysis (Task Series 200) Evaluation (Task Series 300) Verification (Task Series 400) Practical understanding and application of: MIL-STD-1472 MIL-STD-1474 ARP 4761 ARP 4754A DO-254 Level of Rigor task planning / tailoring / execution JOINT SOFTWARE SYSTEMS SAFETY ENGINEERING (JSSSEH) Software Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis MIL-HDBK-454B Ability to produce DoD required documentation, such as: Safety Engineering Analysis Report Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Report Safety Assessment Report Engineering Change Proposal System Safety Report Waiver or Deviation System Safety Report (WDSSR) System Safety Program Progress Report Health Hazard Assessment Report Radiation Hazard Control Procedures Safety Studies Report Safety Studies Plan Mishap Risk Assessment Report System Safety Program Plan Security Clearance Requirement: An active and in-scope DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance as needed Desired Skills: System Safety Engineering ability to apply standards and process requirements?MIL-STD-882 ?DO-178 MIL-STD-516 Air Worthiness Criteria DO-178 Software considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification Human Systems Integration?SAE 6906 Expertise working with Satellite and/or unmanned ground stations, A/C avionics modernization, intelligence communities, FAA, other governmental agencies.
