Auditions Coordinator and Recruitment Assistant

The George Mason University Dewberry Family School of Music seeks qualified applicants for a part-time Auditions Coordinator and Recruitment Assistant. This is a 29 hour per week position. This position requires access to student information; therefore this position is not open to current students to apply.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage schedule, coordinate, and oversee all undergraduate and graduate audition days for the School of Music;
  • Oversee processing of all applications and results and communicate with University and CVPA admissions, area directors, and ensemble directors;
  • Oversee all communication of undergraduate acceptance and denial letters; * Generate and manage new student files;
  • Compile report on results of auditions for faculty and University officials;
  • Manage student files for scholarship information to communicate with scholarship committee;
  • Update web pages reflecting audition dates and admission requirements to School of Music;
  • Process all pre-screening materials and auditions through SlideRoom site and assist with graduate admissions materials;
  • Liaise with University admissions and CVPA admissions for information regarding all entrance auditions;
  • Meet with prospective students and parents to address questions;
  • Manage use of promotional displays and materials for School of Music;
  • Maintain contact database for potential students; * Coordinate day shadows for prospective students to oversee courses and ensembles;
  • Represent School of Music at University admissions events and outside arts-specific recruitment events;
  • Assist in coordination of recruitment presentations to provide information regarding the School of Music programs and admission requirements to groups of prospective students, parents, and high school counselors;
  • Assist in compiling content of student recruitment materials and coordinate with marketing department on design and production;
  • Assist with School of Music social media content including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well with a diverse group of faculty, staff, prospective students, and their families;
  • Demonstrated experience with database and file management;
  • Familiarity with social media, marketing, and outreach efforts for recruitment.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in Music;
  • Experience working in a university setting.
