National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) located in Arlington, VA, seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Curriculum Writing Specialist with demonstrated excellence in NGSS Design, who loves working as part of a high-functioning team dedicated to the cause of supporting educators working to enact the new vision of teaching and learning articulated in A Framework for K12 Science Education. The Curriculum Writing Specialist contributes to NSTA’s mission by developing high quality instructional with the goal of enhancing the science content and contemporary pedagogical knowledge of teachers of science. This goal is achieved, in part, by designing materials (lessons and units)  using the NGSS design criteria detailed in the EQuIP rubric and NSTA’s Sensemaking Tool, incorporating the feedback ad suggestions for improvement from credentialed NGSS reviewers, collaborating with design partners, and leading a Daily Do Writer’s cadre. High-quality instructional materials support NSTA’s professional learning programs and integration of digital content. The Curriculum Writing Specialist will work closely with the Professional Learning development team. Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Other duties as assigned by supervisor.  Applicants must submit a sample lesson that will be evaluated using the NGSS Lesson Screener.
