ECS is seeking a Data Architect to work in our Washington, DC office. Job Description: ECS is seeking a passionate and driven Data Architect to support DHS' data services programs under the Office of Chief Information Officer, that provides innovative and complex data analytics services and platforms to users. As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for collaborating to build enterprise data models, enterprise data architectures and strategies in building, integrating, operating, and maintaining a complex technology platform. Must work closely with other architecture and engineering disciplines to establish data best practices for designing interface standards, quality assurance standards, performance standards, and apply cost-benefit analysis to modern state-of-the art information systems. The Data Architect will be capable of independently applying a wide set of engineering disciplines for planning, design, analysis, coding, testing, and roll-out to support information systems.Responsibilities include:Design and develop documents and tests, as well as, maintaining applications in a selected programming language or environmentCollaborate with technology and business teams to champion robust, flexible, and scalable data architectureDefine standard metrics and measures while establishing data security, quality, load, transport, and performance modelsDefine flexible tenancy structure that allow clients to scale easily from ground, hosted, private cloud modelsProvide thought leadership and technologies to automate manual tasks for internal and tenant useCoordinate with the Chief Data Officer Directorate to establish data security and governance policies for data at rest and while in motionAct as team lead and mentor for technical resources while utilizing agile best practicesTroubleshooting and resolving application issuesRequired Skills:Bachelor's in Computer Science or related IT field7+ years of IT experience including experience in design, analysis, and implementation of large-scale, complex data architecturesExperience working in Agile environment leveraging advanced design and engineering best practicesKnowledge of Data Management and Data Architecture conceptsKnowledge of Data Warehousing and Big Data toolsKnowledge of Data Analytics and applicable knowledge of Data Science concepts and toolsExperience architecting and modeling mission-critical BI, OLTP, OLAP, ETL, and integrated data solutionsKnowledge of Data integration and Data QualityExperience mentoring data engineers, establishing best practices, and providing code review and other feedbackAbility to communicate with multiple stakeholders to build relationship and provide guidanceMid-level technical expertise in developing and managing data technologies, technical operations, reusable data services, and related tools and technologiesDesired Skills:Experience with DHS and knowledge of DHS standards a plusDemonstrated ability to adequately plan and meet delivery objectives and maintain adequate service levels in a highly dynamic, complex environmentsAbility to vet new and novel technologies in the big data space and make recommendations and articulate risk involved with each solutionExperience with Python, Flask, Java, PostgreSQL, Nifi, Flask, Bash scripting, APIs development, CI/CD pipeline, as well as, multiple development environments (on-prem vs cloud)ECS is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate or allow discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, citizenship, disability, veteran status or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law.
