Join us in serving our Maryland residents, visitors, and businesses!The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration (MDOT MPA) is seeking a Design Project Manager (Transportation Design Engineer V). This is the senior level of licensed professional design engineering work responsible for managing large and complex engineering projects of major scope and importance involving a broad range of engineering disciplines. The incumbent will be a licensed professional engineer project manager and design team leader for multi-disciplined engineering and construction projects of varying levels of complexity, scope, and fiscal implications for the MDOT MPA. This position will manage the development of contract documents for engineering and construction projects funded by the Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP) and federally funded grants. The Design Project Manager will also serve as the task manager for individual tasks assigned by the MDOT MPA Manager of Design or the MDOT MPA Engineering Response Desk (ERD). The ERD is an engineering resource available to all MDOT MPA staff, tenants, and engineering firms interested in requesting services from the MDOT MPA engineering department. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Meeting with various representatives of MDOT MPA departments, Information Services, and contracted Architectural and Engineering design consulting firms (A&E firms) to discuss and review new project scopes or facility improvementsRequesting and reviewing price proposals for scopes of work from A&E firms and providing recommendations to MDOT MPA Engineering managementResearching and providing MDOT MPA archived engineering level documents for requesting parties as the ERD Task ManagerCoordinating and accompanying staff from other MDOT MPA departments to perform field inspections and site condition surveys of various MDOT MPA terminal facilities, property, and infrastructureThe current vacancy exists at the MDOT MPA, in the World Trade Center, which is located in Baltimore City, MD. You can learn about our amazing benefits here: MDOT Benefits Guide QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a Maryland Professional Engineer license, in the appropriate option, is required. Evidence of license must be presented at the time of appointment.EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience managing engineering projects as a licensed, professional engineer. *Two (2) years of design experience in one of the following disciplines: environmental, mechanical, electrical, or structural engineering. *This statement contains a selective qualification, which is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. An applicant's current license as a Professional Engineer in a state with comparable requirements acceptable to the Maryland State Board for Professional Engineers, in the appropriate option for which application is made, will be accepted but the applicant must obtain a Maryland license within twelve (12) months of appointment. Evidence of out of state registration must be presented at time of appointment.2. Employees in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. All applicants must list their license number and expiration date on the application.3. The individual selected for this position must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card when they start work with the MDOT MPA.
