Job Details
Sparks Group in collaboration with a not-for-profit research institute, is searching for a proactive General Ledger Accountant. The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate month-end close and implementing efficiencies necessary to improve the close cycle. They will complete ad hoc projects as needed for the continuous improvement of the accounting environment. The ideal candidate will be experienced in performing complex balance sheet or income statement reconciliations and general ledger accounting. Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and month end closings
- Consolidate financial statements, accounting schedules and reports
- Analyze financial data and resolve inaccuracies prior to creating statements
- Work with external auditors to complete required audits
- Assist with miscellaneous compliance filings and reporting to external parties
- Conduct ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned
Qualifications/Background Profile:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
- 5+ years of Non-Profit accounting experience
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills required
- Proficiency using PeopleSoft or Blackline is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; detail oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects
- Detail and Process oriented; ability to build and foster successful working relationships
- Ability to handled multiple ongoing projects and prioritize based on current need
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
