The major emphasis shall be on good teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities-to help the student develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become a better person, a better worker, and a better citizen. Duties and Tasks: Full-time teaching faculty members are responsible for teaching various courses in the Accounting field of study. Courses are offered in traditional, hybrid, and distance learning environments. All faculty members must be available to teach day, evening and weekend classes. Faculty members also serve as faculty advisors, serve on division/campus/college committees and participate in curriculum development. This position is renewable at the start of each new academic year starting in January 2022. This is an entry-level appointment with a normal teaching load of 15 credits per semester. Essential Functions: As a part of this position's primary responsibility, the College expects each faculty member to: meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports on-time; teach the prescribed courses of study using the approved textbooks; conduct requisite student conferences; hold required office hours; attend to assigned divisional and College duties; contribute to the development of the program of instruction; adhere to the statement on professional ethics, and follow and enforce College policies, procedures, and regulations; maintain competence in the accounting field; and advise students. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications Required KSAs: * The ability to prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. * Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to effectively teach accounting concepts in the classroom. * Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers. * Learn and use technology to enhance instructional effectiveness and the students' educational experience. * Display excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills. * The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to teach college freshman- and sophomore-level Accounting courses. Minimum Qualifications: * Master's Degree in Accounting or a Master's with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting. Qualifying degrees and coursework must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution. * Two years, FT or FT equivalent, of related occupational experience. * College level teaching experience and/or relevant work experience is required. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications * Experience in developing curriculum. * Experience in teaching college-level courses in face to face, hybrid, and online formats. * Experience teaching students from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency. * Experience in using Canvas and SIS. Experience in providing academic counseling to students. * Research experience in an academic or professional setting.
