Job Description Benefits Supplemental Questions Performs responsible paraprofessional work opening, closing and monitoring facility operations and assisting with and supervising recreational activities; does related work as required. Duties are performed under regular supervision Examples of Duties: Preparing facilities for use; overseeing facility operations; serving as scorekeeper; monitoring activities and enforcing rules. Opens and closes recreation facilities; Sets up facilities; provides supplies and equipment; Assists with scheduling of facilities; Supervises the conduct of a variety of recreational activities; Enforces standards of discipline and conduct by program participants; Assists in the organizing and preparation of recreational activities; Maintains stores and inventories recreation equipment, materials and supplies; Provides information to the public regarding center activities; Performs related tasks as required. Some knowledge of the methods and practices of community recreation work including knowledge of the equipment and techniques, relevant rules and regulations of social, artistic, craft and/or athletic programs for children, youths or adults; ability to instruct common recreational activities; ability to establish effective working relationships with other workers, program participants and the general public; ability to enforce rules and regulations and maintain discipline. This is light and medium work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arms length, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. Typical Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in working with the public. Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.#06022021
