As a Database Administrator for the North America Biometrics Programs team located in Reston, Virginia, you will perform tasks as a member of the DBA team for a national biometrics system. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of databases and guarantee that data is stored securely and optimally, working with minimal supervision. In addition, you will work at the prime contractor site (Arlington, VA) once clearance is granted. Key Responsibilities: * Monitor the performance of and administer databases for a national biometric system. * Ensure 24/7 availability, performance, backup, recovery and security of the databases. * Troubleshoot, isolate, and fix database production issues. * Design and implement database infrastructure, including performance monitoring, capacity planning, and automation of database related processes. * Develop Oracle scripts, DBMS jobs, stored procedures and functions to replicate data to the backup databases, purge old data from log tables. * Test and deploy patches and security updates. * Help develop and implement migration strategies. * Work directly with customers and provide technical assistance and support when needed. * Independently trouble shoot system issues and establish call bridges with appropriate personnel to ensure the databases restored to proper operating condition and all efforts are documented from start to closure. * Support development efforts, using your knowledge of data structures and programming languages to help the team develop and integrate new features and improvements. * Be part of after-hours on-call support Required Skills and Experience: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science; Computer Engineering; Computer Software Engineering; Computer and Information Sciences or other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics disciplines or related technical discipline OR a minimum of six (6) years' of directly relevant experience * At least 2 years of experience maintaining Oracle software on the UNIX and/or LINUX operating system * 5 years of hands on experience in all aspects of administering Oracle 10g or greater Enterprise Edition database (basic administration, performance tuning, network administration, installation, patching, implementing user profiles , performing backup and recovery) * Team oriented, self-motivated, excellent communicator; oral and written * Excellent Team player with proven ability to accomplish goals through collaboration * Ability to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams in situations of ambiguity leveraging problem solving skills and a willingness to learn with only high-level direction * Prior experience communicating pertinent and technical information to external customers and other stakeholders on a regular basis * Ability to interpret requirements and translate them into deliverables * Proven troubleshooting and problem solving abilities * Proven determination to drive an issue to resolution. * Minimum two years' experience using windows based operating system. Must have US or Dual Citizenship and be able to obtain post-hire clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investments in the US (CFIUS) and Department of Treasury Preferred Skills and Experience: * Biometrics industry experience * 2 or more years' experience with Oracle RAC preferred * Proficiency in AIX/UNIX and Windows * Proficiency in Oracle 19c RAC, ASM, Data Guard and Amazon Multi AZ Oracle RDS * Experience in PL/SQL, SQL, Java, C++, shell programming and/or .Net * Experience in dynamic application development * Familiarity with basic data architectural concepts (Entity/Attribute definition, normalization to 3NF) * 2 years of experience with Microsoft Sql Server (MS SQL) Thales champions inclusion and we believe diversity strengthens the fabric of our culture.
