Leisure World of Maryland, a private, age-restricted community comprised of 29 housing associations and 8,000 residents located in Montgomery County, Maryland seeks an Insurance Claim Administrator to oversee the property and liability claims processing for the organization. The scheduled hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES: * Oversees property and liability claims processing to include coordination with insurance companies, claimants, contractors, Mutual and Trust personnel. * Coordinates property loss claims from initial filing of first report to insurance company and Mutual(s) through coordinating repair work with Physical Property Department (PPD) and outside contractors to processing bills to the insurance companies and the Trust. * Maintains incident and claims data base for generation of reports and analysis. * Communicates and informs residents, owners, personnel, insurance companies, and contractors verbally and in writing. * Accepts claim payments and disseminates money to appropriate account. PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: In addition to the Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC) staff and contract personnel, the Insurance Claim Administrators principal working relationships are members of the LWCC Board of Directors (including Board Committee), Mutual Board of Directors, community residents and representatives of insurance companies and insurance brokerage firms. EDUCATION * High School Graduate or General Education (GED)-Required. * 3 or more years of experience in insurance claim processing or equivalent training and experience. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: * Ability to read, comprehend, review, handle and distribute all claims and insurance documents * Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply basic accounting concepts. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interact and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with community residents and outside organizations and agencies at various levels. * Ability to resolve problems in a courteous and professional manner. * Ability to exercise sound, expert and independent judgement within policy guidelines. * Ability to present proposals and recommendations clearly, logically, and persuasively in public meetings. * Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations, and court decisions applicable to insurance liability and claims. * Working knowledge of EXCEL. Power Point, Microsoft Word. * Must be able to lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
