Job Summary: 
Westat is seeking a Research Associate and experienced data analyst to work in a multidisciplinary team that supports survey and other data analysis projects in health services research studies. 

Job Responsibilities:
•    Program and conduct advanced statistical data analysis, including data cleaning, data manipulation, variable creation, correlations, t-tests, regression, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and other types of statistical modeling.
•    Write technical specifications for data files, analytic variables, and production reports.
•    Prepare, document, and perform quality control checks of file sets delivered to Westat's clients. 
•    Support or lead stages of research study design, analysis, and report writing as part of a project team.  
•    Participate in project leadership team to plan survey data collection, management, and delivery operations through all project phases.
•    Write reports for clients.
•    Write papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at professional conferences.

Basic Qualifications:
•    A Ph.D., preferably in the social sciences, public health, or health services research.  
•    At least 2 years of relevant analysis experience.
•    Experience with data analysis techniques using SAS.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
•    Demonstrated expertise in quantitative analysis methods, including psychometric analyses.
•    Experience with other data analysis software, such as R and Mplus.
•    Experience writing papers or proposals.
•    Experience with healthcare claims would be a plus.

Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; be detail-oriented; and work well independently and in a team environment.
