Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP, a global law firm, is currently seeking a Patent Attorney with at least three to five years of experience to join our Intellectual Property and Technology practice in our Washington, DC office. The position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated patent prosecution and technical analysis work relating to computer hardware, computer software, telecommunications, electrical, electromechanical, and automotive technologies. A' Responsibilities Responsibilities will include mid-level patent attorney work such as drafting, filing, and prosecuting US patent applications, managing and coordinating international patent application strategies, preparing patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions, and overall intellectual property counseling. A' Academic and Professional Qualifications JD and admitted to at least one state's bar. Candidates should possess an undergraduate degree or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar background. Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications is also required. Experience in drafting patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions, as well as general client counseling in Intellectual Property issues, is considered a plus. Admission to USPTO preferred. A' Qualities, Knowledge, Skills & Experience At least three to five years of experience practicing patent law and proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others on complex matters.A' Demonstrated experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting Strong legal writing skills are essential. Excellent communication skills are essential, both written and oral. Consistently excellent judgment is essential. Must be a self-starter, have the ability to prioritize workload, and work well under pressure. Having strong analytical skills is essential. Industry, court clerk, and/or PTO examiner experience desirable. Experience and skill in analyzing patents is essential. Must be capable of handling routine tasks with limited oversight.
