Job Description

The Post is looking for someone to join the editorial board and write unsigned editorials about economics, domestic policy and other topics. The job also could include writing signed columns on a weekly or occasional basis. The ideal candidate will be a skilled and experienced reporter; a fluid writer; and a strategic and analytic thinker. The ideal candidate also will enjoy working with colleagues, arguing civilly and building consensus. The job calls both for deadline writing and in-depth reporting. An interest in adapting the editorial form for new platforms and new audiences would be a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Write editorials.
  • Participate in editorial board meetings to discuss pressing global and domestic current events.
  • Maintain topical knowledge of current international and domestic news stories.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with policy experts and organizations to help inform board positions.
  • Write opinion columns under own byline if desired.


Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in journalism across writing roles
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with the editorial board
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Open to constructive editing and feedback
  • Ability to write on tight deadlines as the news cycle requires
