Microsoft has an immediate opening for an experienced attorney to join the Commercial Team in the Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) department. The position, based either in Redmond, Washington, or another office within the US, offers many opportunities to take part in driving Microsoft's strategic growth and success. Your primary responsibility will be providing commercial transaction support and strategic thinking across a variety of Microsoft business groups including consulting services and Microsoft's Worldwide Commercial Business and beyond. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Negotiations - The ability to achieve mutually satisfying agreement in negotiations with customers and partners by listening to their needs and objectives, acting as counsel to your business clients, to effectively close out complex technology and digital transformation deals. * Analytical Thinking - The ability to collect information and identify fundamental patterns, trends, and risks in complex settings. Required/Minimum Qualifications * Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction. * Minimum of 5+ years' experience as a practicing attorney or equivalent practice of law. * Minimum of 3+ years of experience as an attorney handling complex deals, including professional services and digital transformation transactions for large corporations globally, or similar experience in representing corporations. Additional or Preferred Qualifications * Experience as an attorney with strong knowledge of privacy and data protection issues for a large corporation or similar experience is a plus. * Technical or engineering background and/or passion for technology, and experience in cloud computing, AI technologies, and related legal issues. * Excellent negotiation, legal drafting, and communications skills. * Sound judgment that incorporates strong legal analysis, a pragmatic approach, and consideration of business goals, risk tolerance, and external stakeholder priorities. * Enthusiastic "team player" who enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams to solve complex issues and works collaboratively to generate consensus across diverse points of view. * Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous settings and with a bias for action in a fast-paced, fluid, highly matrixed environment.
