Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, US citizenship is required. Qualifications: We have an immediate opening for a Senior Principal Database Administrator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nationA cents € (TM) s core defense/intelligence services and systems. Our employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS: A cents € cents Monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots databases A cents € cents Optimizes and tunes database performance utilizing advanced monitoring tools, query tuning techniques, database and operating system parameter adjustments, hardware recommendations, and other operational enhancements A cents € cents Provides metrics on database performance A cents € cents Ensures all optimizations and parameter adjustments are documented and communicated across the team to ensure common settings across multiple production and test environments A cents € cents Identifies performance improvements and works with local and remote development staff to implement and test those recommendations A cents € cents Interacts with other IT staff to recommend and enforce database standards, ensure compliance, and the security of the database environments A cents € cents Supports & troubleshoots the operation of database systems including patching, event monitoring, incident management, backup & recovery, and other forms of remedial & preventative maintenance A cents € cents Works with IT Staff and stakeholders to identify requirements for database repositories & systems in support of projects, initiatives, and operational improvements A cents € cents Plans for complex database functional capabilities including: database vendor, product, & version; storage; hardware; structure; performance; security; availability; and disaster recovery A cents € cents Support SOX'S, Cyber, and license compliance audit processes and procedures A cents € cents Leads, plans, and executes projects, small initiatives, and/or cross-functional teams A cents € cents Manages high risk, high profile, tight schedule, and complex outcomes with composure A cents € cents Breaks down "barriers to progress" & motivates less experienced members of the team to action A cents € cents Performs other duties as directed A cents € cents Moderates business travel required SKILLS: A cents € cents Evidence of ability to act largely independently on complex tasks and wide-ranging initiatives using a broad exposure and professional understanding of the database administration discipline A cents € cents Exhibits advanced knowledge on database technologies, operating systems, best practices, and industry trends including database design, configuration, tuning, and support A cents € cents Prior work experience showing broad expertise or unique knowledge working as a database administrator or equivalent planning, designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing database systems A cents € cents Excellent track record showing ability to develop relationships and formal and informal networks to influence, coordinate, and communicate A cents € cents Advanced knowledge SQL aSQL query tuning techniques A cents € cents Has ability to analyze complex situations, alternatives, designs, architectures, risks, data, and systems A cents € cents Industry certification in SQL Server (preferred), Oracle SQL, or other relevant database administration achievements strongly preferred A cents € cents Excellent organizational skills including: leading initiatives and modest projects; a facility to handle multiple-tasks and deliverables simultaneously; a track record of exercising independent judgment appropriately; and the ability to quickly understand and execute complex assignments when working on high profile outcomes with inherent risk A cents € cents Solid oral/written communication, and inter-personal skills including the ability to: anticipate, influence & adapt to a wide range of audiences; cultivate relationships and leverage organizational understanding to facilitate decision making and buy-in A cents € cents A history that illustrates flexibility and adaptability to changing business needs and shows the ability to recognize need for change A cents € cents Excellent track record of being capable of working with significant uncertainty, resistance, barriers, issues and challenges; converting uncertainty into quantifiable impact, risk and mitigating actions KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: A cents € cents Tools: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Advanced Text Editor SQL A cents € cents BachelorA cents € (TM) s degree in computer science or a related field A cents € cents Preferred: Microsoft SQL Server database certifications , NoSQL experience, Graph DB experience.
