Capital One is seeking a talented Marketing Strategist to join the Walmart Partnership team in McLean or Richmond, VA.

The Marketing Strategist will be responsible for supporting customer acquisition strategies for one of the biggest retail card partnerships programs in the country. The Card Marketing team represents the "voice of the customer" across a broader, cross-functional partnership team and evangelizes customer-centric, industry best practices in developing, managing and continually optimizing marketing programs.

Responsibilities :
  • Own and implement the communication and creative strategy for integrated, multi-channel campaigns in order to acquire customers for a billion-dollar retail card partnership. Channels include paid outbound digital, Direct Mail and Walmart and Capital One owned.
  • Manage all aspects of campaign execution including creative development and managing reviews/approval, execution and budgets.
  • Develop consumer-backed learning agendas that include consumer research and in-market testing to constantly improve campaign performance and better connect with customers, as well as to create marketing best practices and identify new opportunities/insights for the organization.
  • Analyze business results, campaign metrics, marketplace trends and consumer insights to inform/advance positioning/claims, product strategy, and marketing plans. Inform internal and partner teams of all key customer KPIs and qualitative feedback and contribute to regular action-driven plans to impact those drivers.
  • Participate as the brand lead in collaborative cross-functional teams (business partners, creative teams, legal, compliance, etc.). Champion both the Capital One and Walmart brands, ensuring that all representations of our products are in line with their respective brand personas, voice and style guides
  • Coordinate alignment and approvals with Walmart marketing counterparts on all projects


The Ideal Candidate:
  • Has a passion for developing meaningful ways to connect with Walmart customers through the product or communication strategy to drive acquisitions
  • Is a key strategic thought partner in building communication & test plans to drive the program's growth goals, leveraging a solid understanding of a customer's shopping journey - both in and out of Walmart.
  • Has experience leading marketing strategy efforts in large organizations, along with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly effective communication skills with outstanding writing and presentation abilities, and is comfortable in collaborating with partners in Walmart's organization.
  • Experience with a variety of marketing channels (eg: direct mail, digital channels, website, affiliates, mobile, PR)
  • Is results focused and proactive, always looking for ways to improve performance through optimizing the product offer, messaging or experience.
  • Is able to break a strategy down into a testing plan that accelerates momentum and speed to market
  • Can manage the details of multiple projects, deadlines and changing priorities, while maintaining excellent and accurate work


Basic Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree or Military experience
  • At least 2 years in brand strategy, product or digital marketing with experience in managing multiple channels on agency or client-side
  • At least 2 years of experience in planning, executing and analyzing marketing programs
