The Cook prepares food that meets current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations by following established policies and procedures. He or she must carefully follow directions given by the Executive Chef, Lead Cook and Director of Dining Servicesto ensure that safe and high quality food service is provided at all times. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or a GED. At leastthree years of experience in a professional food service operations environment, with senior living experience preferred. The candidate must be familiar with different styles of food and meal preparation, possess the ability to use kitchen equipment and cooking production equipment. Also required is demonstrated knowledge of recipes compliance, proper cooking methods, portions control and food cost control. Knowledge of HACCP is required, with ServSafe certification a plus. The Cook must have a genuine desire to expand their knowledge base and skills in the food service industry. The candidate must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, and possess good time management skills. Other requirements include the ability to work a flexible work schedule-even in emergency weather conditions, to have reliable transportation, and have the physical stamina to perform required tasks related to this position. Appropriate dress, speech, and behavior at all times are all required for this position.
