Associate Director, Marketing and Communications American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) ACNM seeks a growth minded marketing professional who is interested in being part of the solution for addressing the maternal health crises in the United States. We seek a rising star for the position of Associate Director, Marketing and Communications (AD). This position will be a part of the staff leadership team and will lead the development of an integrated marketing and communications strategy that incorporates a wide range of activities to meet ACNM strategic goals. The AD oversees marketing, media relations and communications and will have a key leadership role in supporting the future growth of ACNM by providing expertise to identify opportunities for program expansion, increased engagement of members, and raising awareness of the profession of midwifery as part of the solution for our country's maternal health crises. Key responsibilities include: 1) development and implementation of integrated and targeted marketing plans, including key performance indicators to measures success; 2) assessing our communication vehicles and marketing tactics ( Quickening , the online news site; social media channels; e-mail blasts; website; weekly Midwifery Now e-newsletter; and weekly ACNM Brief e-newsletter ) to determine member value and making recommendations for changes, if required; 3) supporting and advancing ACNM's brand awareness among key stakeholders; and 4) supporting and advancing membership recruitment and retention strategies that incorporate best practices in diversity, equity and inclusion. The position oversees the Marketing and Communications Coordinator. Duties and Responsibilities Marketing Working across the ACNM staff team the AD will collaborate to develop, manage and oversee the implementation of integrated marketing strategies to raise awareness of the profession of midwifery, promote our advocacy and legislative efforts, grow attendance at ACNM education events and collaborate with our philanthropic partner, the Foundation, to implement fundraising plans toward a mutually beneficial end. The AD will recommend tactics that take into account best practices in digital marketing and will collaborate with IT staff on ensuring ACNM systems are aligned and configured to effectively measure marketing tactics. Media Relations The AD will be responsible for managing media relations outreach and will develop a media strategy to showcase ACNM's brand, achievements, members, policy priorities, and advocacy work. Responsibilities will include: Regularly securing coverage for ACNM in identified media outlets to reach consumers, health professionals, and other stakeholders. Proactively identifying new media opportunities related to current news, trends and issues. Responding to media inquiries, connecting reporters with member content experts and staff, and providing follow-up as needed. Drafting and producing media releases, statements (in conjunction with content experts), talking points, letters, and other messaging content. Tracking, assessing, and regularly reporting on the achievement of media-related goals. Communications Content Production The AD will oversee the development and production of organizational digital and print materials including the ACNM Annual Report and the Annual Meeting Program, logo, and Schedule at a Glance. Responsibilities include: Developing schedules and managing production workflows to produce high quality materials following agreed-upon timelines. Working with graphic designers to oversee the design and layout of ACNM materials and graphics to ensure high-quality design; a strong, consistent, professional visual identity; and alignment with brand standards. Providing editorial support as requested to ACNM departments and staff. Updating content for Midwife.org and DiscoverMidwives.com and creating content for annualmeeting.midwife.org as needed. Reviewing weekly content for ACNM Brief, ACNM's clinical e-newsletter and Midwifery Now , ACNM's informational e-newsletter, writing association news items and proofing the e-newsletters; serving as liaison to vendors; and tracking ad revenue and metrics. Assisting in the oversight of ACNM's social media presence. Digital & Print Communications Oversight The AD will provide overall editorial direction of Quickening, ACNM's online member news site, along with the printed "best of" editions of Quickening , and will collaborate with leadership, staff, and membership to identify content that best meets members' needs. Additionally, the AD will ensure the smooth, effective management of the Quickening website, and the regular scheduling and publication of Quickening content. Additional responsibilities will include: Cultivating regular and occasional contributors to ensure a consistent flow of content. Reporting and writing content about ACNM activities and members, as needed, using journalistic and storytelling techniques. Developing and implementing plans to market, measure, and assess digital and print Quickening to maximize readership. Developing and implementing strategies to generate and optimize revenue related to digital Quickening; managing the invoicing of related advertising as needed. Other The AD will serve as the staff liaison to the Publications Committee to facilitate development of new and revised ACNM publications.
