Assistant Controller JSSA is a health and social wellness agency that provides expert caring to our neighbors across suburban Maryland, northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Reporting to the Controller, s/he would be responsible for general ledger oversight, financial statement preparation, supervise the payroll process, assist with the annual budget and contract/grant budget development and assist with the annual audits. This position will interact with program directors and a wide range of stakeholders as we grow and expand our mission into exciting new programmatic areas. The successful candidate will have the following required experience and education: Collaborative workstyle to include strong communication and interpersonal skills; and Ability to work as a team member and independently to multitask, prioritize, manage, and execute projects that meet deadlines and achieve project goals; and Knowledgeable about current payroll practices and laws; and Understanding of grants and contracts management; and Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, active CPA license strongly preferred; and Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory experience; and Public Accounting background and/or Not-for-Profit Accounting Background with understanding of GAAP preferred; and Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills; and Advanced level Excel and accounting software skills required #gc The Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) has been helping people across the Washington metropolitan area meet emotional, social, and physical challenges for more than 120 years.
