The National Security Agency (NSA) Science of Security (SoS) Summer Internship Program offers paid research internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate-level university students pursuing STEM degrees. The 12-week program starting mid-May/June offers interns the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with full-time NSA researchers on innovative cybersecurity research and technology. NSA/CSS Research Directorate (RES) is home to a highly technical and talented workforce that performs cutting-edge research and creates breakthroughs in mathematics, computer science, engineering, cybersecurity, physics, neuroscience, and linguistics that lead to creative solutions to NSA's most challenging problems. At the end of the intern's tour, they will provide a presentation of their work to their fellow interns and researchers. The NSA facilities are located in and around Fort Meade, Maryland. The National Security Agency (NSA) is part of the DoD Intelligence Community Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). All positions in the NSA are in the Excepted Services under 10 United States Codes (USC) 1601 appointment authority. Submit an online application on or before 31 October 2021. However, the Agency will determine selections for early acceptance into the program on a rolling basis throughout the application period and anticipates filling approximately 1/3 of the available positions prior to the closing of the application period. This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1601. Meade, MD, are eligible for a round trip airfare ticket to and from school or mileage reimbursement up to the cost of a government-issued airline ticket. - Daily transportation to and from work is not provided. Students participating in the program are highly encouraged to bring a vehicle. Carpooling with other students MAY be available but NOT guaranteed. - Subsidized housing accommodations are available upon request if school is located in excess of 75 miles from NSA main HQs campus.
