Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer. The incumbent will serve as an Information Technology Specialist responsible for a range of assignments and projects related to data architecture, data management and analytics.

Responsibilities

At the GS-12, in addition to duties at the lower grade level, typical duties may include:
  • Serves as a Data Engineer to work with Enterprise Architect to implement data analysis architecture, data analysis infrastructure and data warehouse solutions in the cloud.
  • Collaborates with agency data users to develop business cases and establish technical workgroups to develop proofs of concept, researching new and emerging data technologies to support cloud data warehouse solutions.
  • Assists in architecting and delivering the solutions that fulfill the business information needs and align with the agency data architecture vision and strategy.
  • Provides data engineering support for reports and dashboards based on the enterprise business needs and data visualization tools.
  • Assists in establishing data governance structure and overall data strategy, data architecture, roadmap and vision for information delivery and management, including enterprise data business intelligence and analytics.
  • Assists in developing a data security plan, data privacy policies, metadata standards, document standard operating procedures (SOP) and implement a data governance model based on Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK).
  • Works in collaboration with OCIO to ensure compliance with security related laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience-GS-12: Applicant must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level directly related to this position. Specialized experience is experience in creating and maintaining optimal data pipeline architecture, including optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data. Maintaining high quality documentation about data structures in shared data governance tools; Collaborating with data owners, data stewards, analysts, software developers and DBAs; Building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and curated data sets; Applying IT enterprise architecture principles and practices to support technical audits, complex needs analyses, developing systems requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and planning system implementation.

Applicants will be rated using the Category Rating System.
