Responsibilities
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Management Information Specialist, you will:
- Design, develop, and run complex queries using complex Microsoft Access Structured Query Language (SQL) methods; and manipulates data and generates reports using Microsoft Access Structured Query Language (SQL) and maintains routine and ad hoc reports.
- Operate as a technical authority in the review, development and implementation of policies and regulations related to information systems and reporting tools that could significantly change the way the agency conducts its business with the public or with private industry, or which modify important inter-agency relationships.
- Assist in the design, development, testing and execution of various complex SQL statements using Oracle/Microsoft databases and multidimensional data sources in very large data warehouses.
- Run test queries, generate complex queries and reports and manipulate data, using query language, in response to Division or customer requirements; design, develop, and maintain complex routine and ad hoc reports for the division; and presents reports to customers in various formats such as a spreadsheet, pdf or word processor document.
- Design, develop, and maintain data management systems that meet current and future business requirements of the Division; design, develop, and maintain relational databases; monitors and optimizes database performance and assists IT personnel in trouble shooting database problem.
