The Certified Medical Coder - Outpatient will provide coding expertise in all aspects of the outpatient clinical coding function to include ambulatory services. The coder will serve as a clinical coding subject matter expert and accurately code conditions and procedures as documented and in accordance with ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines, CMS/MAC and AMA, and any other official coding guidelines established for use with mandated standard code sets. Other duties will include charge entry, coding related training and other tasks as assigned by the manager.

• Maintains a working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third-party requirements regarding documentation and billing.
• Strong knowledge and application of Government and other payer guidelines as they relate to compliant coding.
• High level of Accuracy and Productivity. Meets or exceeds standards consistently.
• Must maintain a high volume of processing without compromising quality and accuracy.

Qualifications include:
• Minimum 2-4 years ICD-10 and CPT coding experience.
• Must hold one of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS CPC, COC, CCS-P.
• Associate's / Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Experience with Electronic Health Records Software Required (eClinicalWorks and Cerner experience is desirable)

Work Schedule:

Full-time days

Hybrid position - Candidate must reside in the DMV area with the ability to work in the Gaithersburg office at least one day per week. Semi-remote.
