Qualifications
You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).
Specialized experience is defined as performing duties such as:
GS-14: You qualify for the GS-14 level (starting salary $122,530) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level performing duties such as: providing guidance and direction to junior staff in researching, analyzing, compiling and interpreting researching results.
AND
OPMs Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) is defined as:

The Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information's (SII), Protective Intelligence Division (PID), is responsible for providing producing threat assessments for USSS protected persons and facilities. In addition, the National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) conducts large -scale research projects that have had a great benefit to Federal Government. The information gained thru this research is directly applied to the USSS protective mission and is shared with our public safety partners. NTAC works closely with the public, municipal, state and federal partners to ensure public safety.

Responsibilities
The selectee will serve as a Lead Social Science Research Specialist in the Office of Strategic Intelligence and information, Protective Intelligence & Assessment Division, National Threat Assessment Center. Typical work assignments include:
- Creates detailed project task lists for Social Science Research Specialist that communicate project deadlines and ensures that they are met; and provides expertise and guidance to junior staff in regards to the development of complex qualitative research, training, and information sharing projects in the area of targeted violence, other types of violence, terrorism, and protective intelligence.
- Serves as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members.
- Identifies and distributes a balanced workload in regards to studies, projects, and research tasks to employees based on their skill level and expertise; and modifies or adjusts workload to meet established priorities and project deadlines.
- Independently researches, learns and applies a wide range of innovative and complex qualitative and quantitative methods to research projects in the area of targeted violence, other types of violence, terrorism, and protective intelligence that improves team effectiveness, efficiency, and work products.
- Prepares reports and maintains records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required, and coordinates the preparation, presentation, and communication of work-related information to the supervisor.

- Submit to a polygraph examination prior to your appointment.
- Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
- Must be able to work holidays, evenings, weekends and during inclement weather and government shutdowns as required to support operations.

- Certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so, if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959.
