Summary

This position is a Budget Analyst located in the United States Department of Labor (DOL), Employment & Training Administration (ETA), Office of Financial Administration (OFA) - Budget Division. The position's purpose is to provide analytical, technical, and administrative support related to budget formulation and execution, provide advisory services to managers and assigned program leads related to budget, and develop budgetary guidance.

Responsibilities

Duties include but not limited to:
  • Seeks out and reviews pertinent data necessary to perform research using a variety of data sources
  • Prepares budget estimates and justifications; formulates budget estimate for multi-year programs
  • Performs financial status reports, extracts data and verifies and reconciles data; assists senior analysts in the development of portions of more complex reports.
  • Reviews program budget progress data; identifies areas where program progress is not in accord with plans and analyzes issues.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service that demonstrates Budget Analyst work.

Specialized experience for this position MUST include ALL of the following statements below:

· Analyze financial data to ensure proper execution of either a salaries and expenses budget or a major program component of agency programs.
· Using multiple sources and a detailed understanding of accounting system/accounting codes to prepare and explain financial status reports for programs.
· Assist with preparing the development of budget estimates and justifications for either a salaries and expenses budget or a major component of agency programs.
