The Assistant Controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounting transactions while conforming to the processes and procedures of the applicable accounting principles. The role will report directly to the Corporate Controller and manage a team of five accounting professionals.Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following:Oversee the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal monthly financial statements and annual auditsOversees the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and employee expense reportsManage daily reconciliation of cash operating accounts and preparing daily cash reports for executivesWorks with external auditors during reviews and audits to manage accounting staff and compliance with all qualified requests in a timely mannerAssist with financial audit preparation including quarterly reviews, annual financial statement audit, bank audits, 401(k) audit and other audits as requiredDevelop and analyze internal monthly financial statements and year-end audited financial statementsAssist with quarterly financial statement reporting as requiredResearch and apply technical accounting to ensure GAAP compliance for unique accounting transactionsIdentify, research and resolve corporate accounting, auditing and operational issuesAssist with the development, implementation of and monitoring adherence to company accounting policies and proceduresIdentify and implement opportunities for process improvementDevelop, manage, recognize and reward a motivated team of accountants and accounts payable specialistsAssist Controller with special projects to facilitate the effective functioning of the Accounting DepartmentPosition Requirements:Bachelors degree in Accounting requiredCPA strongly preferredMinimum of three years of management experience, to include managing the month-end closeAccounts Payable full cycle exposureMinimum of five years of corporate accounting experiencePrevious experience in public accounting and compliance strongly preferredPrior professional services and percentage completion accounting experienceThorough knowledge of GAAPExcellent organization and communication skillsIntermediate to Advanced Excel skills preferredKnowledge of Deltek Vision preferredPrevious experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plusNote: The position description is intended as a summary only of key duties.
