Overview As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will assist in the day-to-day financial operational functions of the division, financial analysis and reporting, corporate and divisional reporting requirements, and Sales and Closing administration.A' Ensure Corporate/Region Accounting and Finance policies are in place and followed.A' Responsibilities Assist in preparation and review of HUD statements as it relates to home closings Prepare analysis and process land take-downsPrepare commissions and advances monthly payroll for NHCPrepare bonus packagesMaintain fixed asset schedulePerform a thorough job cost review for homes closed during the current monthMaintain backlog report and provide variance explanations/analysis.Prepare and record all necessary entriesPrepare general ledger reconciliationsReview Joint Venture financials and provide monthly summary to VP FinanceOversee the month-end close process accurately and timely in conjunction with corporate/region deadlinesPossess complete understanding of US GAAP and internal Accounting Policy Manual and ensure that policies are complied withProvide weekly and monthly statistical/financial reporting to Division ManagementAssist internal and external auditors as needed. Perform as needed special projects as assigned by VP FinanceA' A' A' A' A' A' A' A' A' A' A' Key CompetenciesCommitment to a team environmentDetail oriented and organized in workAbility to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectivesConfidentialitySound judgment and analytical skillsGood oral and written communication skillsAbility to meet deadlinesFlexible to respond to and manage numerous tasks and special projectsDeveloping supervisory/managerial skills#CB Qualifications A' Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance requiredThree years minimum related accounting and financial experience, homebuilding experience preferredPublic accounting experience preferredCPA/CFA preferred; at minimum CPA/CFA candidateAdvanced computer skills including Excel (macros, pivots, vlookups), Access, SQL, the use of Hyperion, EssBase, and JD EdwardsExcellent attention to detailProfessionally perform multiple, detail-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlinesPresentation skill sets for Divisions Ops management team (Powerpoint)Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills as well as supervisory skills
