GL Accounting Manager

ABOUT THE JOB: The GL Accounting Manager is a full-time position based in our Baltimore, MD office. This role is an integral member of the WillScot Mobile Mini accounting and finance department who provides management of our accounting function, controls processes/environment and corporate accounting teams located in Baltimore, Maryland and Phoenix, Arizona. This role will report to the Director of Accounting. Key Responsibilities include: month-end close, team management (approx. 10 professionals), SOX controls management/execution and participation in acquisition integration and systems integrations initiatives. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: A successful candidate should possess the ability to: Develop relationships and communicate across all corporate functions; Create and execute a vision for monthly and quarterly close processes including team roles, responsibilities, and processes Manage and lead the corporate accounting team through acquisition and system integrations Have a controls and risk-based mind set while executing daily, monthly, quarterly tasks Properly prioritize and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines See challenges as opportunities to make improvements and develop a team; Be detail-oriented and deadline/results/accuracy driven Corporate Accounting - General Ledger Manages accounting processes, including journal entry preparation and approval, reconciliations, month-end close procedures, and consolidations Investigate and resolve or escalate any non-standard GL transactions Responsible for reviewing monthly financial results, including the income statement, balance sheet, and key performance metrics Identify risks, implement controls, monitor, and maintain proper evidence/documentation in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley or similar requirements. Manage periodic external reviews and audits to ensure proper documentation is provided timely and accurately Participates in merger and acquisition diligence and integration activities Aid in integrations between our ERP and additional software tools to modernize and scale the business Supports quarterly reporting requirements, including disclosure schedules and miscellaneous accounting matters, for a seamless process with financial reporting Continually improve business processes through automation, thoughtful analysis, and researching best practices in the industry Support business processes by partnering with other departments/functions, including but not limited to Fleet, Inventory and Fixed Assets, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Field Operations, and Field Accounting Review G/L team structure; make recommendations on workload distribution, processes, and efficiency within the group Prioritize development, training, and mentorship of the G/L team Ensure team/department objectives are met, completely and accurately, regarding deadlines, controls, documentation EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting Minimum of 12+ years of accounting management level experience required, public company and big 4 experience a plus CPA certification required Strong analytical skills Effective oral and written communication skills Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously Ability to work independently and as part of a team Demonstrated ability to contribute in a fast-paced, acquisitive, growth company Ensures compliance with corporate accounting policies, US GAAP and statutory requirements with respect to revenue accounting and reporting.
