The Role: Company is looking to hire an experienced VP of Engineering to lead, scale and empower our rapidly growing team of engineers. As the seniormost executive responsible for leading the engineering org, those in this role report directly to the CEO and partner closely with our Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer to help define our technical vision and its implementation within the product roadmap. The VP of Engineering will be instrumental in shaping the processes, structure, and culture of the engineering org.A' Success in this role requires a deep passion for and understanding of technology and how to scale sustainable systems. Ideal candidates will lead with equal parts empathy and grit, embodying both a servant-leadership ethos to management and the maturity to directly resolve conflicts productively and professionally. This role provides an exciting opportunity to take our existing foundation and lead our growth as we transform how public opinion is collected, analyzed, and shared to inform better decisions. Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Help set our technical vision and work across engineering and product teams to instill, enact, and iterate on that visionRecruit, hire, coach, and mentor a diverse team of engineersA' Collaboratively partner with product, data science, UX, and other teams within the organization to drive business outcomes; actively build relationships outside of the engineering organizationA' Lead the overall engineering organization with a heavy focus on managing managers, building a team of engineering leaders, and broadening and maturing engineering practices and cultureDesired Skills:Extensive experience recruiting, retaining and leading high-functioning engineering teams (50+ engineers) in fast-paced product-focused environmentsExcellent product sensibility and communication skills -- experience partnering closely with Product and other leaders to drive business outcomesUp-to-date technical knowledge that enables you to identify and lead teams through complex technical decisions and provide strategic guidanceExperience coaching and supporting both managers and managers of managers through empathy, compassion, and candor within the engineering organization as well as between teamsAbility to translate strategy into execution; holistically identify and define organizational objectives and implement processes and systems that support those goalsWilling to take feedback, learn and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement
