Senior Network Engineer
ECS is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work in our Arlington, VA office. Job Description: ECS has an immediate opening for a Senior Network Engineer for a Department of Defense (DoD) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment located in a contractor facility. The ideal candidate will have a sound technical background; a willingness to learn; experience with complex DoD systems, and the ability to configure and manage network firewalls.Candidates must be adaptable; take ownership of tasks and deadlines; work well without supervision; commit to high quality results; and provide common sense technical solutions. They should have a track record of self-improvement and continuous learning. Well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential.PRIMARY DUTIES:Spearhead engineering activities throughout the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).Provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineersInstall, configure, maintain, update, and refine networksImplement, manage, and monitor firewall security policyTroubleshoot and resolve network issues and outagesEvaluate network performance and make appropriate recommendationsExamine network vulnerabilities and determine actions to mitigate themSupport out of band patching and upgrades; which may require non-standard working hoursRecommend, schedule, and/or implement repairs within the network environmentSchedule and perform backups on all network componentsConduct functional, interoperability, and security testingAnalyze system performance for potential security problemsParticipate in technical incident response and security assessment activitiesEnsure network components maintain compliance with DoD requirementsSupport risk mitigation activities such as CCRI's, Assessment and Authorization (A&A), continuous monitoring, and vulnerability and configuration managementDevelop network documentation such as diagrams and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Support the development of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standardsProvide knowledge transfer to team members and clientsConduct other duties as neededRequired Skills:High School DiplomaActive DoD Secret clearance or higherExpertise with network firewallsWorking knowledge of STIGs for network hardeningHands on experience in configuring and implementing backup procedures and policiesAbility to interface with all levels from end-users to senior managementQualify for DoD IAT Level II within 6 months of hire.
