CNRI Operations Administrative Site Coordinator

A unique opportunity that will provide multi-faceted operational support to research operations for the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion located on the Children’s National Research & Innovation (CNRI) Campus at the former Walter Reed campus, Washington DC. This primarily administrative role will provide operational support in a variety of functional areas by serving as the primary point of contact for the CNRI campus and serving as liaison between Roanoke support units and the CNRI campus.

The Operations Site Coordinator will support the administrative and operational functions of the CNRI campus by liaising with Fralin Biomedical support teams including IT, Facility Operations, Finance, Grants, Communications, HR and Development to coordinate support for this satellite research location and the associated research teams. While the greater Virginia Tech Health Sciences service units will provide the bulk of satellite unit administrative and operational support, the onsite coordinator will serve a vital role of operational logistics, hands on troubleshooting and task implementation. Functional components of support will include purchasing, travel planning, human resource tasking, facilities support, general administrative support (mail, shipping/receiving, phone coverage, reception) and hosting onsite guests and visitors.

Duties may include managing and prioritizing schedules, facilitating travel logistics and reimbursements for any personnel, guests and visitors, scheduling meetings and meeting facilities, responding to internal and external inquires, professional correspondence, assisting with grant proposal preparation, representing Virginia Tech Health Sciences and Technology, interacting with a wide range of university, FBRI, Children’s National and Washington DC community executives or officials, CNRC research team members, assisting with recruitments and potentially assisting with research participant traffic.

Required qualifications:

  • Experience and demonstrated ability providing operational support in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Diverse experience and breadth in operational support areas.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, superior time management skills and ability to manage logistics.
  • Demonstrated expertise with computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. or similar.
  • Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to forge strong working relationships.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to follow direction.

Preferred qualifications:               

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Experience in medical or biomedical support.
  • Experience in an academic environment.
